OK, so I was at work and got INSPIRED! I started to draw this idea out for a T-Shirt Design! I used Inkscape because I’m too poor to buy my favorite program, Illustrator.
It was all drawn piece by piece in vector. I am still working on drawing on a computer without a tablet so I know it’s not too good. A lot better people out there but I had fun doing this!
I used some photographs and posters from the “Avengers” movie for Loki’s helmet.
The scarf was the hardest part. I looked at the photo of Mr. Hiddleston in a suit as Loki and didn’t realize how much designing really went into that scarf. So, I drew hundreds of tiny golden circles to get the same effect. It’s close enough. 😉
I love to draw vector images and if you know me, you know I love Anime and anything to do with Japan. So! I have decided to start posting a series of Kokeshi Dolls throughout the year. If they get enough love, I may just turn them into stickers or something to sell.
If you don’t know what Kokeshi Dolls are, here is a nice description from Wikipedia:
“Kokeshi (こけし kokeshi?), are Japanese dolls, originally from northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. The body has a floral design painted in red, black, and sometimes yellow, and covered with a layer of wax. One characteristic of kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs. The bottom is marked with the signature of the artist.”
I’m trying to put some more of my graphic design projects up on my Flickr. I’m really using Flickr as my online portfolio now. My issue is that after I graduated, I lost all the programs that I used to use all the time. Now, I use GIMP and Inkscape. Both of these programs are free but are very useful. I rather enjoy using them actually; however, I miss the Adobe Suite a lot. I’ve been saving up for a MAC now so I should have one this summer! =)
Hope you enjoy the Vector images below. (I drew them in Inkscape. I do not own the original images I used as references).
