Alright! My first fitting of the torso. I was so worried about this stage. All that hard work could go right down the drain with on major mistake.
First, I bought some under armor so I would have a case to work with:
Second, I have to cut slits on the side and bottom of the torso to pull the straps through:
I heat gunned the neck brace to make it more of a shield in the back from gun fire lol:
And Finally!!! I have to pull it over my head because it’s the best way to get it on. Also, you really need another person to help you with the straps.
Let me know what you think!!!!
I have to re-glue a part of the back belt because when the back formed on me, it popped a little off. Also, I pulled off the two elastic straps I was going to use for the should because it didn’t help me at all.
The last piece of the torso is the N7 logo that I need to put together. I have a sticker and resin so I have to do that next.
Any questions?

Sorry I couldn’t find a “general” blog so I’ll just put this here. I’m looking for costume help on my totoro costume for otakon. Here is more/less what it looks like:

1. The eye spots are 3″ tall by 1.5″ wide. They sit at eye level, but they’re about 5″ away from my face and at 30 degree angles, so I have very limited sight in this thing. My only idea so far was just to make the eye holes bigger, but I don’t have the skill/materials to confidently go about this.
2. The costume gets really hot. There is plenty of space in this egg-shaped dutch oven so I could like, fill it with cooling pads or even a fan & water spray contraption…any ideas?
Hi,
I love Totoro! That is a really cool cosplay.
1. Well, because the eyes are at a 30 degree angle, you’re going to need to cut it. Especially, if you plan on walking around a lot in the cosplay. What you can do is cut out the eyes the way you want and buy some black thin silk to cover up the holes. You can see through the silk and if you can’t sew, can tape the silk in the inside of the cosplay.
2. I recommend going on Cosplay.com and going to the Forums for Large Cosplays or Furry Cosplays to answer this one. I would think that you would want to use cooling pads; however, Otakon is very very very hot and crowded. If the cooling pads end up melting too soon, you are really going to be overheated. If you have a battery powered fan, that may be better.
I hope this helped in some way! Let me know if you need anything else. Also, if you need help navigating Cosplay.com.
Have a great day.
